IMG 9610 (1)Congratulations to Deputy Head of Pre-Prep, Liz Ostle, who has been recognised as a Highly Commended Digital Innovator in the Pearson National Teaching Awards.

The commendation recognises Mrs Ostle’s role as Pre-Prep Digital Learning and Computing Leader and the high degree of pastoral care she shows for every child, as well as her support of families accessing remote teaching and learning during the past two years.

With a focus on averting excessive screen time, Liz has introduced a variety of robotic toys, metal detectors, recorders, torches and other non-digital technology to develop hands-on experience of how to instruct equipment to make it work.

PRE PREP DIGITAL LEARNING IN NURSERYAmanda Burton Smith, Head of Feltonfleet Pre-Prep, commented; “We are really proud that, on #ThankaTeacherDay, Liz’s contribution has been recognised in this way.  Liz took up the role of Computing and Digital Learning Lead in the Pre-Prep prior to the pandemic alongside her existing role with us as English Lead and Deputy Head for Feltonfleet Pre-Prep.  We had no idea how rapidly the digital era would need to progress, and Liz has calmly moved along with the times and kept all children, families and staff confidently connected in more ways than simply 'teaching computing'.”

In addition to skills development in her classes, Liz provides each of our learners and their families with important guidance on how to use technology safely with healthy habits for screen time, content awareness and e-safety. Our youngest pupils from 3-7 years of age learn to become discerning users of technology inspired, enabled and encouraged by Mrs Ostle and fully prepared for the embedded use of technology when they enter Year 3 in the Prep School.

This year, Mental Health Awareness Week shines a spotlight on the power and importance of community. Being part of a community can make life feel more meaningful and enjoyable, helping us feel happier and safer. At Feltonfleet, we’re using this week as an opportunity to pause and reflect with our pupils on the incredible community we share - one rooted in kindness, support, and meaningful connection. In the boarding house, on the sports fields, and around every corner of our school, there’s a spirit of togetherness and a listening ear when it’s needed most. It’s this sense of belonging that helps our pupils thrive - not just this week, but every day. #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #FeltonfleetWellbeingAndCommunity #FeltonfleetWhereIndividualsReallyMatter #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #FeltonfleetWellbeingAndCommunity #FeltonfleetWhereIndividualsReallyMatter

Today, we marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day with pride and gratitude. Our prefects led an insightful assembly, sharing the significance of this historic day, and pupils added a splash of red, white, and blue to their uniforms to honor the courage and sacrifice of those who fought for our freedom. A moment to reflect, remember, and commemorate. #VEDay80 #FeltonfleetRespect

Our middle school pupils had an unforgettable time on their ski trip to Austria over the Easter break. It was fantastic to watch their confidence grow on the slopes throughout the week. One of the highlights of the trip was the exciting sledging races down the mountain. The pupils displayed great spirit and camaraderie throughout the trip. ⛷ A huge thank you to @snowslippers_ for ensuring our trip was a success! #FeltonfleetYear5 #feltonfleetyear6 #FeltonfleetCrossCurricularLearning

Our Year 7 pupils delivered an incredible performance of Return to the Forbidden Planet this week. The crew of the Starship Albatross took us on a thrilling space adventure in this sci-fi production, inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest and infused with 1950s rock ‘n’ roll. Their talent and teamwork were truly outstanding. Well done, Year 7! #FeltonfleetYear7 #FeltonfleetPerformingArts
