The annual Knighting ceremony is a momentous occasion, an opoprtunity to formally welcome the new heads of boarding and recognise that boarding (in flexi-form) lies at the heart of the community. Lots of exciting plans are in the pipeline here; the school is acquiring the road that bisects its campus, which will lead to a once-in-a-generation redevelopment opportunity; and a fresh co-curricular programme is inspiring new interests across a wide range of clubs. A STEM centre is being planned, as is a literary centre. All this innovation is overseen by popular head Shelley Lance, about whom one parent comments: 'The children are simultaneously inspired and comforted by her. One day, my elder daughter said to me, "As soon as Mrs Lance walks into assembly, I fleel like good things will happen."'
