Sport is woven into the fabric of life at Feltonfleet, where a proud history of success inspires every pupil to strive, compete and thrive - both as individuals and as part of a team.
Our busy Sports department’s aim is to ‘create better athletes for life’ through all aspects of our sporting programme, from training sessions, clubs and matches through to national competitions.
Sport develops our pupils’ physical confidence, competence and their ability to use the skills learnt to engage and perform in a range of activities. It promotes physical skillfulness, physical development and a knowledge of the body and its requirements whilst in action and at rest.

The sporting pathway at Feltonfleet is broken down into our four mutually supporting phases:
PREPARE(Pre-Prep) |
EDUCATE(Lower School) |
DEVELOP(Middle School) |
DELIVER(Upper School) |
This framework requires a holistic approach from the experienced sports coaches and teachers, and ensures that each individual receives an appropriate level of challenge. All pupils enjoy 3 - 4 sport sessions each week with subject specialists, including two extended sessions a week in the Prep school, one of which is reserved for fixtures.
From team games to individual pursuits, we offer opportunities for every child to grow in confidence, develop skills, and enjoy being active.
Director of Sport | Andrew Rishton
In the Pre-Prep, children learn through active, hands-on experiences that support their physical development. A strong emphasis is placed on building both gross and fine motor skills, alongside important life skills such as communication, cooperation, and teamwork. These foundations ensure a confident transition as pupils move up to the Prep School.
In the Prep School, pupils follow a structured programme of major sports, with boys and girls playing hockey, cricket, and football, while girls also take part in netball and boys in rugby. Every child has the opportunity to represent Feltonfleet, whether in weekly interschool fixtures, House competitions, or at regional, national, and even international level. Our inclusive approach ensures that all pupils, regardless of natural ability, can enjoy the challenge and camaraderie of competitive sport.
In addition to the core sports, pupils take part in a wide range of activities including athletics, cross-country, swimming, climbing, gymnastics, basketball, dance, volleyball, badminton, tennis, golf, and dodgeball, to name just a few. The breadth of our programme ensures that every child finds something they enjoy, and the list of sports offered is regularly reviewed to reflect pupils’ interests, emerging talents, and competitive opportunities with neighbouring schools.
