Step 1: Initial Enquiry

The first step is simply reaching out to us. You can do this by phone or email with our friendly Admissions Team. They’ll be your guides through the process, ensuring it’s customised to suit the needs of your child, with clear information for the specific year group you're interested in.

Step 2: Book a Visit

We believe that seeing Feltonfleet in person is the best way to understand what makes our school special. Whether you attend one of our Open Mornings or schedule a personalised visit (or both!), you’ll have the opportunity to meet our dedicated staff, interact with our wonderful pupils, and explore our beautiful campus. If visiting in person isn’t feasible, we also offer virtual meetings.

Step 3: Register your Child

Once you’ve decided Feltonfleet might be the right fit, the next step is to formally register your child. This process is handled online, and includes payment of a non-refundable registration fee. Registering your child allows us to keep you informed about the availability of places in your preferred year group and ensure you move forward in the admissions process when the time is right.

Step 4: Taster Visits

As your child’s potential start date approaches, they will be invited to a Taster Visit. For Prep School pupils, this typically involves spending a full day at Feltonfleet, paired with a buddy to help them settle in and experience a usual school day. Pre-Prep children will enjoy a shorter visit. During this time, children joining Year 3 or above will also participate in informal assessments in literacy, numeracy and reasoning, helping us tailor their learning journey should they join us.

Additionally, we will review your child’s latest school report and request a reference from their current school (if applicable) to ensure a smooth transition.

Our goal is to confirm that Feltonfleet is the right fit for your child academically and socially.

To ensure your child has the best chance of securing a place at Feltonfleet, we recommend arranging a Taster Visit in the Autumn Term of the year prior to entry. This is when the majority of places for the following September are allocated. While we aim to offer flexibility where possible, registering and scheduling a visit by September or October will maximise your child’s chances of being considered before places fill up, which often happens by Christmas.

If an in-person Taster Visit isn’t feasible, we will arrange a virtual meeting with your child to have a friendly chat, get to know them better, and provide an opportunity for them to learn more about Feltonfleet. For children joining Year 3 or above, we will also coordinate with their current school to facilitate the completion of our informal assessments in a familiar setting.

Step 5: Securing a Start Date

Following your child’s Taster Visit, we will contact you within two weeks to confirm the outcome. If a place is offered, you can secure it by accepting the offer, paying a refundable deposit and agreeing to our Terms & Conditions. At this stage, the start date will be confirmed, and we’ll eagerly prepare to welcome your child to Feltonfleet.

For those securing a place more than 12 months in advance, an acceptance deposit confirms the start date, subject to completing a Taster Visit closer to the time.

Step 6: Bursaries

If you would like your child to be considered for a means-tested bursary, you may apply once your child has been offered a place in Year 3 or above. We strongly recommend that families interested in bursary support complete a preliminary application early in the admissions process. This will provide an initial assessment of your likelihood of success and help manage expectations.

Step 7: Preparing for Transition

In the Summer Term, we hold our Move Up Day, where pupils spend time with their new teachers and classmates, getting a taste of the excitement and opportunities in the upcoming academic year. Parents are also invited to induction events to meet the pastoral team and gain insights into the year ahead, making it a valuable and social occasion for both new and current families. Additionally, all new parents are warmly invited to a drinks reception with our Head, Shelley Lance, early in the Autumn Term.

For younger children joining our Early Years (Nursery or Reception), we arrange home visits to help them transition smoothly, getting to know key people in their lives and sharing important information.
