Year 3 Exploring Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx

This term, Year 3 have been diving into the world of ancient myths and courageous adventures through Marcy and the Riddle of the Sphinx by Joe Todd-Stanton.

The children have loved following Marcy’s journey through Ancient Egypt as she overcomes her fears to rescue her father. Through this engaging story, they have been developing their comprehension skills, exploring character motivation, and experimenting with their own creative writing.

From writing diary entries in role to imagining their own mythical creatures, Year 3 have shown fantastic enthusiasm and imagination! They’ve also been exploring riddles of their own (some trickier than the Sphinx’s!) and taking part in hot seating as Marcy and Arthur – though thankfully, no one got trapped in a pyramid… yet!
