Year 7 Delivers an Out-of-This-World Production | News

Last week, Year 7 pupils dazzled audiences with a spectacular performance of Return to the Forbidden Planet — a lively sci-fi adventure set aboard a spaceship, blending classic 1950s and ’60s rock hits with a modern twist on Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The story follows Captain Tempest and his crew as they encounter the enigmatic Dr. Prospero, his daughter Miranda, and a series of unexpected twists, all brought to life with clever humour, energetic performances, and dazzling technical effects.

In the weeks leading up to the show, Year 7 drama lessons focused on exploring both Return to the Forbidden Planet and Shakespearean themes, helping pupils to rehearse key scenes and sharpen their performance skills. Throughout the process, students demonstrated Feltonfleet’s core values—showing respect for each other’s creative ideas, taking responsibility for their roles, supporting one another with kindness, and committing fully to their rehearsals. This collaborative experience boosted their confidence and deepened their understanding of the teamwork and dedication needed to create a full-scale production.

Drama Lead, Simon Fellingham, commented:

"Congratulations to all the pupils, staff, and volunteers who contributed their time, talent, and enthusiasm to make Return to the Forbidden Planet a resounding success. The show perfectly showcased the creativity, teamwork, and community spirit that make Feltonfleet so special. Bravo to everyone involved!"
