A Giant Peach, A Giant Effort, A Giant Success! | News

We are so proud to share the huge success of Year 5’s recent production of James and the Giant Peach!

Over the past 10 weeks, pupils have thrown themselves into this project with energy, creativity, and a truly impressive sense of independence. In a first for many, the production was entirely pupil-led – from casting and directing to managing props and staging, every decision was made by the children themselves.

From rehearsals to performance, they showed a clear sense of ownership and worked well as a team to solve challenges and stay organised. It was a joy to see their ideas take shape and bring Roald Dahl’s much-loved story to life on stage in front of pupils, staff, and proud families. The end result was a performance that sparkled with imagination, humour, and confidence.

The experience also gave them the chance to build key skills – communication, responsibility, and problem-solving – in a practical and enjoyable way.

Head of Middle School, Amanda Wright, commented:

"Congratulations to Year 5 for all their hard work and for putting together a production they can be proud of."
