Our flexible boarding model is built around the needs of modern families, allowing pupils to experience the many benefits of boarding in a way that balances family life with extensive family commitments.
Our offering is designed to find a solution that suits each family’s needs, and we’re confident that we can accommodate each family’s preference and schedule.
Flexibility is key, ensuring that each family can tailor boarding to complement their own routines while giving their children an exciting, developmental, and rewarding experience.
Boarding is available for pupils from Year 3 onwards.
Boarding Options
Day Boarding |
---|
Day boarding provides an extended school day, from 07:30 - 20:00, giving pupils the opportunity to take part in a wide range of co-curricular activities while offering working parents a convenient and structured after-school provision into the later evening. |
Occasional Boarding |
Occasional boarding offers flexible overnight stays, such as as a regular one-night-per-week arrangement or a convenient solution for busy families needing occasional overnight support. |
Weekly Boarding |
Weekly boarding of up to four nights a week, Monday to Thursday, offers a regular boarding experience while maintaining strong family connections at home. Occasional Friday night boarding experiences are also available. |
Boarding numbers tend to grow steadily throughout the year, with the Summer Term being the most popular. While we often begin September with one or two beds available over the course of the week, by the end of the academic year, we typically have a full house with 25 boys and 25 girls enjoying the boarding experience each night.
There’s always a great mix of pupils staying over, which keeps the House full of energy, fun and a real sense of community. There’s always something going on and someone new to share it with.

For families new to boarding, our Boarding Trial Nights in the Prep School offer an excellent opportunity for pupils to experience life as a Feltonfleet Knight. Held each term, these trial nights are always highly sought after. They provide a relaxed, no-pressure way for children to try out boarding, easing any initial nerves and helping them feel comfortable and excited about the experience.
Our Feltonfleet Knights enjoy hearty, nutritious meals together, starting the day with a cooked breakfast and a selection of cereals, fruits, and hot drinks, and finishing with a warm supper from Monday to Thursday. Mealtimes are lively social gatherings where pupils of all ages come together with House Parents and other pupils involved in our Wraparound Care. Everyone pitches in to help, with pupils taking turns to set and clear tables, fostering a strong sense of community and responsibility, just as they would at home.
In the evenings, all boarders participate in our Feltonfleet Knights Choices Programme, which runs from 17:15 after prep until supper, and continues after supper until 20:00. This engaging programme offers a range of structured activities designed to help pupils unwind, explore new interests, and enjoy quality time with friends.
Bedtimes are thoughtfully staggered based on year groups, with our youngest pupils heading to bed at 20:30 and our senior boarders settling in by 20:50. Before lights out, there is quiet time for reading or listening to a story, providing a peaceful end to the day.
Being part of the Feltonfleet Knights community ensures that no child ever feels alone when away from home. Our boarding house is a close-knit, extended family where each pupil is genuinely cared for and supported. This warm, nurturing environment allows them to thrive, both academically and personally, while creating lasting memories and friendships.

We really value Feltonfleet’s boarding options, especially as busy working parents. It brings us peace of mind to know that our daughter can spend her evenings constructively with friends at school, rather than being glued to a screen whilst we work. |
