This week our U13 boys rugby 7s team travelled to Wimbledon to compete in the renowned Rosslyn Park National School 7s, one of the world’s largest school rugby events, featuring over 15,000 participants.
With bright sunshine and firm ground, the boys made the most of ideal conditions, delivering a series of outstanding performances.
The tournament kicked off with a challenging match against Heath Mount School (Hertfordshire), where Feltonfleet showed resilience under early pressure before taking control to win 20-15. Next, they faced Clifton College (Bristol), a team with a strong rugby heritage. Despite Clifton’s fierce challenge, our boys’ solid defence and teamwork led to a narrow 25-20 victory. The momentum continued with a confident 30-10 win over Cottesmore School (Sussex), highlighted by slick passing and strong support play.
The team then dominated Framlingham College (Suffolk), combining excellent ball handling with strategic attacking kicks, resulting in a commanding 40-10 victory. Fatigue set in during their final fixture against local rivals Bishopsgate, but the boys dug deep, showing remarkable defensive effort and creating crucial turnovers to win 20-5.
Completing the tournament unbeaten with five wins, the squad demonstrated incredible grit, unity, and determination.
Director of Sport, Andrew Rishton, commented:
"This memorable performance was a fitting conclusion to the boys' rugby journey at Feltonfleet. Special thanks go to Mr Roberts for his tireless commitment in preparing the team and to all the parents for their fantastic support throughout the day."
