Over half-term, Elodie and Lily organised a charity bake sale in support of the Royal Marsden Hospital, raising an incredible £1,000.
The cause is particularly close to their hearts, as Elodie received treatment at the hospital for brain cancer when she was younger. The funds will support the hospital's continued work in patient care and possibly help bring a little joy to children facing long stays.
The girls planned the event over several weeks, baking everything from rice crispy cakes to shortbread, with their “raspberry surprise” cupcakes proving a particular hit.
Held on a residential street, the bake sale drew fantastic support from their local community, with generous donations from family and friends helping to double the amount raised on the day.
Elodie and Lily, who share a passion for baking, were overwhelmed by the response and are already thinking about their next fundraising idea—a sponsored litter-picking walk for an environmental cause. Their initiative and compassion are a wonderful reflection of the Feltonfleet spirit and a powerful reminder of the impact young people can make.
Elodie shared:
"It feels great to know that we have helped people, including children who are in a similar situation to what I went through. It makes me really happy to give something back to the hospital that helped me so much."
