Mental Health Strategy
Mental health is a state of well being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.
- World Health Organisation
At Feltonfleet we aim to promote positive mental health by creating an environment which is conducive to good mental health for every member of our school community by using a whole school approach, as well as specialised, targeted means.
In addition to promoting positive mental health, we seek to recognise and respond to mental ill health. By developing a practical and effective mental health programme we aim to ensure a safe and stable environment for children affected both directly and indirectly by mental ill health.
Teaching about Mental Health
At Feltonfleet we teach mental health and emotional well-being issues in a safe and sensitive manner to enable our children to keep themselves mentally healthy. In the Positive Living curriculum there is an emphasis on enabling children to develop the skills, understanding and confidence to identify emerging mental health issues and to seek help for themselves or others.
