Last week, the Boys Under 13 Hockey team played some fantastic games at the IAPS tournament, pushing them through to the National Finals.
In the first pool the boys played some great hockey to finish second in the pool stages on a goal difference of 8 vs 9. There were 5 groups and we were drawn against Danes Hill for the second time in the tournament. Now in the quarter finals, only the top 4 could go through, so the pressure was on to win and the boys played their hearts out.
After a strong start with no result, we fended off a few powerful attacks from Danes Hill but we kept up the pressure and eventually Tom R broke through, scoring. This was followed closely by 2 goals from Freddie L. They were 3:0 up but the clock was on their side. Danes Hill scored a consolation goal in the final play so we won 3:1, which meant they were through!
The boys then went on to win against Beacon and then absolutely exhausted, succumbed to a very strong Forres Sandle Manor in the final. Overall Feltonfleet came 2nd out of 20 schools in a a very strong hockey region. Well done boys, your teamwork and tenacity, along with the commitment of Feltonfleet coaching staff has led to this exciting result. Next stop the Nationals!
