Emma Britton takes National Title
12 year old Emma Britton (Feltonfleet School, Cobham) became the Under 13 National Schools Trampoline Champion on Sunday having beaten the Under 13 World number 2 and two of the World Age Games Under 13 National team en route.
The 12 year old trampolinist who lives in Wimbledon and trains in Kingston, was placed first in the regional rounds on the Isle of Wight in December 2005. She progressed to the Regional rounds in North London in January where she finished second behind one of the National team edging ahead of the World number 2 and another national team member.
With only three from each region to qualify Emma went into the finals in Birmingham alongside three other national squad members from around the country. She finished in second position in the set routine but out performed the other competitors with an excellent voluntary routine that secured her the title.
Speaking of her success PE teacher at Feltonfleet, Mrs Lyndsay de Long said, “It was always going to be tough. Although Emma is part of the National squad, she is only year 7 and in her first year at schools under 13 whilst her closest competitors are in year 8. She loves competition and rose to the task with quiet confidence. She really deserves this title”. |
