Last Friday 10 year 8 girls, accompanied by Mrs Luckyn-Malone and myself headed down to Somerset for our annual fixture against Perrott Hill. This is always an enjoyable fixture filled with the excitement and wonder. The girls although a little apprehensive at first hit it off with the Perrott girls and thoroughly enjoyed the Friday evening. On their return to the school the girls shared happy stories and even expressed that “they had not laughed so much for ages” which highlighted their enjoyment.
It was then time to get down to the fixtures starting with the hockey! The girls headed off to the astro and warmed up together. It was clear from the start Perrott where a strong team. They dominated the pitch and moved the ball confidently in short corners. We fought back hard but couldn’t get the ball in the goal. The team led by Storm Graham (Captain) and Hannah Potter (Vice Captain) nonetheless gave it their best, the final score which doesn’t really reflect the game, 6-0 to Perrott Hill.
The girls then moved onto the Netball court where Maddie Ross (Captain) and Elspeth Aylett (Vice Captain) got everyone warmed up and ready to play. We anticipated a win, and started the game confidently. However Perrott Hill fought back and levelled the score in the third quarter. We were just ahead in the final quarter however the last five minutes went goal for goal and proved to be very tense. The final score 11-11.
I can quite confidently say that everyone enjoyed making new friends and playing two great fixtures, I would like to thank those parents who hosted our pupils and also to Mrs Lucklyn-Malone for coming with us.
Overall a great trip!
