On Friday 15th October, 22 boys took on the challenge of bowling continually for 8 hours from 8.00am in the morning until 4.00pm in the afternoon at a set of stumps. The aim of the sponsored event was to raise funds for the cricket tour to Dubai. To give the event added spice, we split the 22 boys into 2 groups of 11. We then had two competitions, firstly, which individual could hit the stumps the most, and which team could hit the stumps the most times with a collective score. The boys soon found out that the challenge was a lot harder than they first thought and that in actual fact, bowling straight (wicket to wicket) is not at all easy. The overall winner on the day was Hugh Howard, who hit the stumps 25 times, with Harry Snell (22) Cameron Montgomerie (21) James Stubbs (21) hot on his heels. The 22 boys collectively hit the stumps just under 250 times, which was a great achievement. The boys depart for Dubai on 16th March 2011, and with 2 teams representing the school, it sure to be a great trip enjoyed by all.
