This Saturday a group of year 5 girls took part in their first hockey tournament of the year. Apart from the fact that they have done hardly any hockey this term and had not played together since year 4 they proved to be a strong combination.

The tournament itself was played between Hawthorns, St Michaels, St Georges and Feltonfleet. The girls got stuck in straight away in their first match against Hawthorns. We were very unlucky to lose 1-0 after hitting the post four times. In their second game the girls stepped it up a gear and beat St Geroges 4-1(2 goals by Anna Jones and 2 by Amaya Schwarzer) in a fantastic game during which Feltonfleet dominated the play. In their third game the girls produced another convincing win in which they put another three goals in the net (1 by Amaya Schwarzer and the other 2 by Anna Jones) and beat St Michaels 3-1. Their total goals scored (7!)gave them the advantage and meant they took first place over Hawthorns who had also recorded some good wins.

FF v Hawthorns lost 1-0

FF V St Georges won 4-1

FF v St Michaels won 3-1

1st place = Feltonfleet

2nd place = Hawthorns

3rd place = St Georges

4th place = St Michaels

Very well done to the following girls who played in the team

Captain – Taylor Mundy, Anna Jones, Amaya Schwarzer, Zanna Mcahon, Emily Boxer, Tanya Pomeroy and Olivia Howarth.

It was a fantastic morning in which I was very proud to see some great hockey. I look forward to next term when the hockey season really gets going!
