On Tuesday 16th November, four of our students travelled to Wellington College to participate in a debating day. The aim of the event was for our pupils to have fun, learn the basics of competitive debating, work productively with Wellington debaters and to even have a go at standing up and constructing an argument against other pupils. They used the British Parliamentary format, which is used for many of the inter-school events such as the International Competition for Young Debaters.
The Feltonfleet pupils excelled. They were fearless, intellectual and extremely passionate – truly brilliant. The pupils also got a chance to see the Wellington Debating Team in action, who debated later in the evening at Cambridge University. Well done to Isabel McClean, Andrew Kersley, Madeleine Ross and Tom Brasher.
