The New Floodlit Astro

During the May half-term contractors will begin work on our new astroturf pitch on Calvi field. It will be floodlit and the project will be complete and the pitch ready for use at the start of the autumn term. This is fantastic news, and I am delighted that my Governors have supported my wish to develop this facility so warmly and enthusiastically. It will enable us to develop hockey for girls and boys, and netball and tennis will have proper venues. The surface will be suitable for football, as well. Furthermore, during the summer holiday the existing astro on the main site will be cleared and in its place a coloured tarmac surface for netball and tennis will be put down, and new fencing erected. Finally, as you are already aware the development and extension of the main playing field will provide for three large grass pitches ready for use from September. The main pitch for the 1st XV and 1st XI will run in front of the pavilion towards the wooded areas. Given that the swimming pool will be complete at the same time, our facilities and provision for sport will be unrivalled amongst local prep schools, and spectacular.
