A group of parents and children spent the last Friday of the holiday around the pond, removing debris and edging a bark chip path with logs. It was a beautiful spring day and a lovely picnic around the camp fire finished off a morning’s hard work. The pond is holding water. It is fenced, has appropriate safety notices and life-buoys and will remain an out-of-bounds area unless accompanied by a member of staff. The pond is increasingly becoming a valuable outdoor educational resource. A pair of Mandarin ducks were seen on Tuesday evening paddling about on the pond. The water has cleared and there is much natural vegetation growing back. The next stage of the project is to build a pond dipping platform. This will take place over the next few weeks. There will be further opportunities for parents and children to be involved in this project. If you are interested then please e-mail me.
