Feltonfleet U13 1st/2nd XV v Shrewsbury House 2nd XV. Feltonfleet won 50 -7
On Wednesday 10th February a mixed Feltonfleet team comprising of both 1st XV and 2nd XV players took on Shrewsbury House 2nd XV on the school’s Calvi Pitch. The Feltonfleet team was made up of all the boys who are going on the Schools Rugby Tour to Dublin and Kilkenny during Half-Term. Although there was a lot of talented players on show, it was a great opportunity for the boys to get used to each other’s ‘games’ and style of rugby.
Right from the first whistle, Shrewsbury House played good flowing error free rugby and dominated much of the possession and territory. The Feltonfleet team lacked intensity and it was no surprise when Shrewsbury House took the lead. Feltonfleet were quick to realise that this was going to be a tough game and started to perform well with some good interchange amongst the backs. With confidence gaining Feltonfleet were able to capitalise on more of the possession an went into Half-time 14 – 7 in the lead.
The second Half saw Feltonfleet dominate play in terms of territory and possession. They were able to utilise a number of the 1st XV stronger runners and in the end were just too powerful for the Shrewsbury defence and ran out easy winners.
This was a great opportunity for the Ireland bound players to get match practice under their belts. With the 1stXV having only lost one competitive game this season and the 2nd XV being unbeaten, confidence is high and we hope to have a very successful tour on the back of what has been a marvellous rugby season for the school.
