The art of song writing - a Leonardo Lecture
Leonardo da Vinci and Paul Barry may be separated by many generations, but they share a genius for song writing. For Paul Barry, his art is practised in the world of popular music, and with over forty top ten singles to his name, knows a thing or two about popular song writing. And so it was that Paul was our very distinguished Spring term Leonardo Lecture speaker, captivating his audience of Year 8 pupils, their parents, and some staff. We were a privileged audience as we listened to Paul’s story, how he approaches writing for different artists, sharing with us the origins of some of his most famous hits which he has written for Lionel Richie, James Morrison, Cher, Enrique, and many others. Paul sang, he played his guitar, performed at the piano, and enthralled us all in his easy way, and we could only but admire the obvious talent which makes this all possible. A brilliant afternoon. Thank you, Paul.
