Year 8 travelled to pastures new with a visit to Bosworth Field Heritage Centre. Beautiful weather greeted us as we went on a guided walk of the battle field, a visit to the excellent exhibition centre where the pupils could handle weapons and dress up in armour, take on the role of a forensic scientist or even try their strength at pulling a longbow. We were thoroughly entertained by two actors who took us through the lives of Mick the Fletcher as he explained the different types of bows and arrows, how they were made and how they were used to kill a knight. We also learnt about the life of an apprentice Fletcher. Captain Mortimer took us to his camp and showed us a display of armour, weapons and combat techniques. Well done to the boys who defeated the girls by winning the polearms drill competition by a very narrow margin.
