In the Language department we are working hard to ensure that all our students from Nursery to Year 8 benefit from inspiring teaching and learning. We make constant use of the interactive whiteboards and are constantly thinking of new and exciting ways of providing language learning in the classroom. We do role-plays, listening and reading activities and try to create genuine opportunities for the children to use the Language. We also ask them to reflect on their progress and set targets for improvement. We have two important goals next term which are to arm our students with the means to find out how to say something in the language (if they don’t already know) and to improve their writing and speaking skills.
In the pictures you can see some lessons in Calvi French where the children are learning French children’s stories on the interactive Whiteboard and using puppets to re-tell the story.
In the Junior department we have some pictures of children doing some practice with verbs. They are learning how to conjugate key verbs and one way of ensuring that they write them in the correct order is by this hands-on approach. In the senior Department the year 6 children were performing some role-plays about their daily-routine. They have been practicing saying what they do and when. Then they had to write a play in pairs and perform it.
