Approximately 75 Prep schools around the country exhibited in one of the largest national art exhibitions, hosted again this year by Feltonfleet School in Cobham, Surrey.
Each year Prep school’s that are affiliated to SATIPS (support and training in prep schools) send a selection of their children’s art work from reception right up to year 8.
The event on Saturday celebrated the achievement of the children’s work and hosted all the Heads and heads of art of participating prep school’s, as well as local dignitaries and guests of the school, and well known artist Rachel Gadsden. The artist spoke about her work recently as artist in residence at The Royal Palaces and her work with the 2012 Paralympic games. She introduced a National Art Competition in association with The Saatchi Gallery and Wheelpower, the wheelchair for sports charity. A buffet lunch followed and tour of the exhibition.
The exhibition was then opened the following week from 12th to the 16th May as part of the schools Arts week, with a private view on Monday evening attracting over 500 parents and pupils from participating schools and a choral concert, dance extravaganza as well as Drama performance. Some Prep school’s also brought children to see the exhibition during the day.
Overall we must have seen close to 2,000 people during the week, either performing, viewing the exhibition or watching the shows!!
