Ardvreck school, in the highlands, hosted this match on Friday 15th May. 11 young shots representing 5 English prep schools and including our own Jerry Stileman, travelled early in the morning and competed after lunch. The Ardvreck range has two firing points, so pairs of contestants fired at the 20m targets for up to 20 minutes each, taking the competition beyond 5pm. Jerry was the 10th to shoot for the English squad, and by this time it was clear that the pupils from Scotland were in the lead. England’s highest score by this stage was 98/100, and Jerry then proceeded to show what can be done by scoring the maximum 100/100. This was a superb performance, not just measured by the target card, but by Jerry’s calm and steady approach throughout his shoot. All of the coaches present were impressed, and although Ardvreck won the competition, Jerry’s performance remains a highlight of the event.
