Tourquay Netball Tour
For the first time this March I took a small group of senior girls away to Torquay for the weekend. This mini tour gave the girls the opportunity to experience playing different schools individually and in a tournament situation while enjoying the highlights of being on tour with their peers. On Friday afternoon the girls played against Trinity School, located in Teignmouth, Devon. This was an enjoyable game which the girls got stuck into and eventually won 13-3. After match tea we headed off to Barton Hall to settle into our accommodation and look round the site. That evening after dinner we headed off to the cinema to enjoy a film before heading off to bed.
As the tournament was not due to start until the afternoon the girls had the opportunity to make the most of the facilities on site enjoying aero ball and rock climbing.
I was delighted with the level of netball the girls displayed in the tournament. They worked hard throughout the afternoon and beat 5 teams which meant they where in the semi finals on Sunday. This was a real achievement for the squad and the school.
The girls continued fighting right through to the final whistle in what was a close semi final. The game went goal for goal and finished 6-5 to West Buckland, who eventually went onto win the tournament. The highlights just how well the girls done.
I would like to thank Miss Gray and the girls for a great weekend and I look forward to running a similar tour next year.
