The Year 5 Boarding Experience last week was for me one of the highlights of the year. The weather was great, the competition was fierce, the food was brilliant, the activities were exhausting and the children were great! This was a team competition with the Wood Pond Wolverines, The Tree House Tornadoes, The Boarding House Buccaneers and The Rowan Block Racoons fighting it out for the prizes.
The weekend started with the children getting changed into some amazing USA themed costumes. The winners of the fancy dress prizes were Ali and Asia who both came dressed as the statue of Liberty – its amazing what you can do with old boxes and silver foil!
The activities came thick and fast with a Home Run Derby, Space Hopper Relays, Parachute games and Linebacker charges. We finished off the evening at the drive-in movies (outside the Mem Hall!).
The following morning did not see a slow down in pace as the children hit the pool for a game of Water Polo and then took to the stage for the Cheerleader contest – I have to say to Miss Gray and Miss Myles – thanks to you I now have the High School Musical sound track still going round my head. We finished of the weekend with a ‘find the cheerleader’ treasure hunt.
The final scores from the competition; 4th- Racoons, 3rd – Buccaneers, 2nd – Tornadoes and the winners – Wolverines. Well done to all the boys and girls that took part.
