It wasn’t quite the final run out for the school which Cian Barry and his fellow Year 8 stalwarts had hoped for, but they couldn’t have given more as the U-13 sevens team battled fatigue, the chilly weather, and even driving rain during the final group game at the National Sevens today. The end of term meant the squad were short of three key players and it was going to be an uphill task. But there were courageous displays against St John’s, Terrington Hall, and Colet Court. A week earlier a full strength side won every game on the way to the semi finals of the Shrewsbury House 7’s, defeating the host school on the way before falling to The New Beacon who the side had defeated comfortably a week earlier in winning The Aldro 7’. Today marked the final Feltonfleet games for some outstanding Year 8 players and our thanks to them all, and their parents, for the great deal they have given to our rugby in recent years.
