Newly selected National .22 rifle squad members Richard Kay and Jerry Stileman, with the St Andrew’s Cup which has been presented to the school team for winning Division 2 of the National League

Feltonfleet was represented by 12 pupils ranging from Y5 to Y8, in this prestigious annual event. We had entered two teams in the air rifle competition and one team of four in the .22 rifle section.

While the air rifle competition was resolved before lunch, with both teams gaining respectable scores, the drama of the .22 range was unfolding and testing the Feltonfleet team to the limit. Sighting problems with a rifle, and then discovering that the electronic target was faulty, led to organisers allowing all four .22 team members to shoot again – taking their shots to 60 rounds each in total.

Hence we were very proud to gain sixth place out of 12 in this event, but better was to come: Jerry Stileman and Richard Kay have been chosen to be among the 13 people across the nation to represent England prep schools in International competition. Jerry will be travelling to the first match, to be held nr Edinburgh in May. This is very exciting news for those boys and for shooting at Feltonfleet.
