We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Elmbridge, Nigel and Elizabeth Cooper at the opening of our new Treehouse. Built during the summer by Blue Forest, the treehouse will provide a unique environment for pupils to have lessons, study nature, read and play. It has been situated amongst the trees in the School grounds between the Squash Courts and Art Room. Using locally sustained wood, it is a fully featured classroom and also features a climbing wall, fireman’s pole and a host of other play equipment so that all pupils in the school can benefit.
During the opening ceremony, the treehouse was named after a previous headmaster, David Cherry. Giles Ashbee, The Chair of Governors then read out a statement from Mr Cherry which was followed by a demonstration of the fireman’s pole by the current Headmaster Phil Ward, Tim Perkins, Head of Art and to the delight of pupils and guests, even the Mayor himself. Headmaster, Phil Ward said after landing ‘The Cherry Treehouse is set to be the most enchanting of places for many generations of Feltonfleet children to come’
The pictures above show the tree-house being built as well as the opening ceremony. Thank you to the Cobham News and Mail for their permission to use two of their photographs.
