Pupils in Year Four travelled back in time to 700 B.C, exploring the early Celts in glorious May sunshine at Butser Ancient Farm.
With Mr Breakwell (Head of our History Department) on hand to share the benefit of his knowledge of all things ancient, along with Miss Bray and Miss Slocombe, the children enriched their knowledge of the iron age with an exciting carousel of activities including: wattling fences, spinning sheep wool, clunching chalk and mud to form roundhouse walls and basic archaeology.
Their teachers faces glowed with pride as the children shared their historical knowledge during a question and answer session in the roundhouse, while the children's faces glowed through mud and chalk dust following a frentic chalk crushing activity later in the day.
Needless to say, Year Four had truly brought their knowledge of the Celts alive by the time we boarded the coach to return back to 2008 ...
