Year 4 went into the City of London to visit St Paul’s Cathedral. The pupils were split into two groups and both enjoyed a very informative tour of the cathedral where they learnt and followed the life of Jesus around the building. The children and also the teachers learnt some great new facts and Mr Richardson was on board to add more details and help Miss Bray!
After the workshops we all raced – or rather walked very slowly up the stairs to the Whispering Gallery where we learnt that if you whispered a secret into the wall – it could be heard the other side of the dome. We had to be careful with what we said. We then had another climb up more steps to the top of the cathedral where we could see the whole of London. Mr Williams – Joshua’s Dad and Mrs Scott Asia’s Mum pointed out the sights to us and where they worked. It was very windy and very high.
After our trek down the steps we then re-gathered and had our packed lunches in the crypt. It was a super day out. A question for you – what makes a cathedral a cathedral ? To find out ask one of year 4.
