Chris Fairclough came to talk to pupils in Years 5 and 6 on Wednesday 5th March, as part of our ‘World Book Day’ activities. He is primarily a photographer and he works on books, for children, about different countries across the globe. He has travelled to over 60 countries worldwide. He went through the people and resources that are needed to publish a book, from the Editor to the wood that’s needed to make the pages of the books, and discussed some of his more exciting encounters, such as travelling downriver in a dugout mango tree, witnessing the felling of trees in the jungle and eating dog!
This all added to our ‘World Awareness Week’ at Feltonfleet and one Year 6 pupil wrote the following review of this part of the day:
‘We heard a talk by Chris Fairclough and this was my favourite thing of all. He told us how to make books and that you need many things, for example: rubber, plastic, rollers, wood, water, chemicals, ink and an Editor and Publisher’.
