Mr Lanzon, Miss Neale, Mrs Karaca, Dr Hames, Mr Starkey and Mr House accompanied 45 year 6 students on a 4 day tour to sample the delights of Northern France. We stayed in the Chateau du Broutel in Rue. On the first day we visited Nausica sea life centre in Boulogne which was a real treat. The children particularly enjoyed seeing the sharks, sea lions and clown fish. We arrived at the Chateau just in time for dinner followed by the Chateau Olympic games. The second day started with a lesson and work sheet on how to ask for things in a market. This was followed by a tour of Rue Market with our instructors from the Chateau and students were given a series of tasks to do which enabled them to practise their French. That afternoon we visited Amiens Cathedral and the various other attractions of the city centre. They were given an ‘Apprentice’ style series of tasks to do such as finding a newspaper, buying a postcard and a stamp, reading a road sign and working out what it means etc. and they all rose magnificently to the challenge. That evening they had a scavenger hunt to do after dinner. On the third day we spent some fun time in Bagatelle theme park, where the students had all sorts of exciting adventures. This was followed by more fun in Aqualud water park. That evening was the disco and once again our students performed to the highest standards on the dance floor. On the last day we went to visit Les Grottes de Naours which is an amazing underground city carved out of the chalk and flint caves of the area. The students had a wonderful time and took lots of happy memories with them.
