“ Hands–on Mathematics” at Feltonfleet School

This week at Feltonfleet School the pupils of Years 2 to 7 have been given the opportunity to take part in the “World of Maths” challenge workshops.

Split into a mixture of abilities within their respective Year groups, the children worked in small groups to solve various day to day problems including ski races, finding the shortest routes for Santa to get to the houses and building chairs.

The event was organised by Head of Mathematics, Jane Ashfold in order to offer the opportunity to enhance the pupils awareness of maths in their lives and to further their thinking and teamwork skills.

The feedback from the children is that “Maths is fun” and this was certainly the case here this week.
