A team made up of 6 pupils from Year 7 and 8 - competed in the St. John’s Debating Competition on Thursday 24th April. It is the first time that Feltonfleet have competed in this competition, so we were very pleased to be the winner of the Plate Final. In the Plate Semi-final we debated with Parkside and in the Final we debated with Homefield
The team, including: a main speaker, a second speaker, a third speaker (who summed up the main arguments and responded to questions and comments from the floor) and three members on the floor, had to formulate arguments and propose or oppose such motions as ‘Education should be geared towards careers’, ‘British prisons are too comfortable’ and ‘Money is the root of all evil’.
Congratulations to the team members for their preparation and performance in the competition. They represented the school well and debated with confidence and maturity.
