Junior Block & Performing Arts Centre Development
Having completely reshaped the Junior School in 2012, transforming the Years 3 and 4 classrooms into outstanding learning areas, early in 2015, we were delighted to open our new Performing Arts Centre, named The Ashbee Centre after former parent and long-serving Governor Mr Giles Ashbee. This new state-of-the-art theatre offers the Drama, Dance and Music departments a stunning facility, and serves as a multi-purpose hall & Dance studio. This ground-breaking centre offers retractable seating and advanced sound and light systems. It is not only a fitting venue for our talents pupils to perform, but will also host assemblies, parents’ meetings and examinations.
With it comes a fresh, new face to the School, more befitting a school of Feltonfleet’s excellence. A beautiful, glass-walled corridor leads parents and visitors alike to the new school reception and the main Prep School building. It encloses a marvellously landscaped courtyard garden, open to pedestrian access and very much for the use of the entire community.
Ever looking forward and with an eye on the next stages of development, the Governors of Feltonfleet have consulted with the Staff, whose primary concern is the required improvement to the facilities for Music and Science. However, employing the services of architects who always seek the bigger picture, has led us into consideration of what development might be achieved for the great benefit of our Design & Technology, Art and Digital Learning facilities.
The School is therefore engaged in a discussion with the architects, as well as the Leaders of those important areas of school-life, as we consider the next stage of development of Feltonfleet facilities to the improvement of the educational experience of every Prep School pupil. We are utterly intent that the School will not sit still: following the completion of the Performing Arts Centre, not a moment to be wasted!
