Forces and Magnets (Physical Processes)

Year Three, Spring Term

During the Spring Term, Year Three consolidate and extend their knowledge of forces as either a 'push' or a 'pull' through a study of magnets and magnetic materials.

The children learn to identify and predict forces of repulsion and attraction between magnets and different materials, and explore whether different types of magnet have equal strength.

The myth that all metallic materials are magnetic is explored and a number of magnetic challenges are undertaken.
