Heating and Cooling (Materials and their Properties) Year Four Winter Term
During the Winter Term, Year Four learn how to describe and measure temperature accurately and safely using thermometers.
They apply this knowledge during investigations to identify effective thermal conductors and insulators, whilst revising and extending the principles of devising a 'fair test'.
A comprehensive consideration of how applied heat may change a material follows. Here the children extend their knowledge of a material's state (solid, liquid, gas) whilst exploring the processes inherant in changing state (melting, freezing, evaporating, condensing). |
