The Junior Department > Our School Day
Our school day begins with registration at 8.15 a.m.
Three teaching sessions of 35 minutes bring children and teachers alike to morning break at 10.15 a.m. with the opportunity to enjoy milk and biscuits or fruit to refresh young minds.
Assembly offering valuable time for reflection, togetherness and collective worship, or alternatively meetings in Forms, Year groups or Sections follow.
Lunchtime
A further three sessions precede lunch, offering healthy appetites a well-earned reward. Lunchtimes at Feltonfleet are a very social affair, bringing teachers and pupils together to reflect on the day thus far.
Lunchtime break offers a diverse range of activities including: mini tennis, ballet and jazz dance, junior choir and junior pop band. Alternatively, children may simply enjoy our extensive grounds offering an adventure playground, an astro-turf pitch, an outdoor learning centre and playing fields.
Afternoons
Registration opens our afternoon schedule, with a further four sessions bringing formal curriculum time to a close at either 3.45 pm (Wednesday and Friday) or 4.00pm.
As the day wears on however, there is no sign of the vibrancy of the department lessening. A quick walk around the Junior School simply confirms new priorities, namely talk of clubs, formal prep sessions and other extra-curricular activities. Our diverse range of extra-curricular activities is typically pupil-led in content embracing musical, sporting and artistic opportunities to complement curriculum based learning.
Finally, our bus service to Putney or Wimbledon delivers pupils safely home once more.
