In PSHE lessons the children have the opportunity to consider moral and social issues as well as those relating to citizenship. We raise money for a number of good causes during the year and we try to involve the children in learning about their work. In both these subjects we ensure that teaching is linked to children’s experience.
Children attend Assembly four times a week where we sing, listen to stories from the bible or other meaningful texts and say a prayer. We incorporate teachings from the Christian faith as well as stories from other world religi ons to develop reflection and understanding. We celebrate festivals such as Harvest and Easter as well as birthdays and successes at our assemblies to build self-esteem and a sense of community.
Class Circle Time is a key pillar in supporting our ethos. It allows the children to think and have their say on relevant issues relating to moral and social concerns.
