Resources for practical activities are available to support their learning, and this enables them to gain confidence throughout investigation. Because children start at different points and progress at different rates, activities are usually differentiated according to ability with the children working either individually, or in pairs. Children begin to learn their times tables formally in Year 2, once we are sure they understand the concept of multiplication.
