History Curriculum

We promote enthusiasm and interest in History in Key Stage One, by offering a rich, broad, and relevant curriculum. The children have an opportunity to express ideas about the past in speaking and writing, and develop historical awareness and a sense of chronology.

We encourage the children to ask questions and show empathy towards events and people from particular times. Learning about topics, such as Homes and Toys in Year One, and The Victorians and The Great Fire of London in Year Two, enables the children to use photographs, artefacts, and role-play to enhance their understanding of how life was like in the past, compared with today. We enjoy visiting places of historical interest. Have a look at some of the places we have been.
