When will we hear if we have a place? As quickly as possible. We will try and inform you within three days of your child having been assessed, when you will receive a formal offer of a place in writing. Entry would normally be the following September, though there are occasions when new pupils join us during the school year.
Will there be any contact from the School before our child arrives? Absolutely! You will receive regular mail shots, copies of our three times a year Newsletter, and you may like to come along to our next Open Morning (and better still bring a family of friends with you!”).
Thereafter, you will be invited to a New Pupils induction occasion at some point in the summer term. Not only is this a chance for your child to spend half a day with the other new pupils arriving in September to meet their new teachers, and experience something of the new routines, but also an opportunity for you to meet other parents (many of whom will doubtless become very good friends in the years ahead). There will a welcoming address for parents given by the Headmaster, and you will leave armed to the teeth with information, clothes lists, and much else besides!
And, for children entering higher up the School, or in mid-year, we will offer them the chance to spend a morning with the new class before he or she arrives. Making new friends is often the greatest hurdle (the work rarely seems to be an issue for new pupils!), but rest assured that Feltonfleet is such a friendly place that it won’t take long to make new pals.
And when the first day arrives, your child will be guided and nurtured through those often bewildering and confusing early days. It won’t be long before Feltonfleet really does feel like home, both for you and your child!
Can I chat to other parents who already have children at Feltonfleet? Of course. Our best advocates are our present parents, who are wonderfully supportive. We have a thriving committee of Friends who fund raise for the School, and organise many family activities. And, what’s more, many of their representatives would be very happy to answer any question which you may have. The Registrar can help here. |
