Year 4 Become Vikings for the Day

Posted on: January 19th 2018

In the second week of the Spring Term our Year 4 enjoyed an educational trip to Ufton Court, where they spent the day living as Vikings.

The Viking Explorer Day brought this term’s History topic to life as the pupils experienced Viking culture first-hand.  They learned new skills, including fire lighting with Viking flint, making their own bows for hunting, fighting skills using traditional weapons of axes, swords and shields and even taking part in a raid from a Viking long ship.

“It was a really, really, really fun trip!” said Lola.  “My favourite part was the raiding!” enthralled Georgie.

“It’s really helped me to understand what it would have been like to live in Viking England”.
Daniel, 4SB

This year's Pancake Day has fallen in half term so we're looking forward to celebrating next week. In the meantime, we thought we would revisit this memory from last year. Let's hope Mrs Rampe does better this year! https://t.co/hHL2X13S9x

Last night's amazing performance of 's The Tempest by our fabulous Year 4 wowed the audience. Performed in a Greek Theatre style, with stylised masks and movement the children rose to the challenge admirably. 2nd performance tonight- good luck guys! https://t.co/ye1dB4kKFX
